Network Video Recorder Upgrade

Over a year ago, I had replaced my Network Video Recorder (NVR) that was included originally with my Security Camera System. The “newer” unit was a Dell Optiplex i5 CPU, 16gb and 4TB hard Drive. The Dell computer was great at first. Had to tweak a lot of settings to accommodate 8 Cameras with HD feeds. Over time I noticed the system was red lining and seeing CPU usage shoot up to over 90%.

With Intel producing their first generation graphics cards. Blue Iris supporting Intel Quick Sync codec. I figured why not build a new system that will last for the next few years. Purchased the parts during the Christmas sales and assembled the new system. Once the system was working I see the CPU usage at 7% and GPU at 2% and Ram under 5%. Big Difference. Also with the latest edition of adding a Doorbell Camera as well. Here are the specs:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 65Watts of POWER!
  • 64GB DDR4 3200
  • 250GB NVME
  • 4TB HDD Storage
  • Intel A750 8GB Graphics Cards
  • Noctua 80mmx2 and 120mm Fans and Low-profile CPU Cooler
  • 650 Watt Power Supply
