I upgraded the home thermostat with a NEST Smart Thermostat. The thermostat that was installed when the AC/Heater units were replaced. Is a decent unit and worked for its intended use. My curiosity was peaked when I started hearing from co-workers that they had a NEST installed in their home. They raved about how it was easy to use, remote functionality, and temperature status. Decided to purchase a NEST unit for my home. The HVAC guy suggested to just turn off the power and connect the wires from the old thermostat to the new one. Emphasize on the turning power off. I did and followed the instructions from the NEST package. Connected the NEST to the home WiFi via turning the wheel on the unit itself. Didn’t take no more than 30 minutes. The great thing is when traveling and coming home. We can turn on the Heater or AC to come home to a climate control comfort.
After a few months I replaced the home smoke detectors with the NEST brand. I read that after 10 years you are supposed (legally) replace the units. I figured a smoke detector is a smoke detector. The NEST variety have a voice to alert you where the smoke is coming from. I selected the Latin Spanish and when there is smoke guests, family, friends whom speak only Spanish know of the danger. You can configure to have a motion light when walking around at night. Does not hurt the eyes and lights your way for those late night bathroom breaks. Both are great products and recommend them to anyone.
